Around the year one thousand and after becoming a Norman feud, Toritto experienced an economic and social rebirth marked by the construction of its castle (which was rebuilt during the XII Century). After several feoffees, Toritto became a property of Stefano Pignatelli in 1493, while in 1592 it was transferred to the Tolfa's and to the Telesio's during the XVII Century. During the 1800s, a reorganization of urban arrangement provided Toritto with beautiful streets and prestigious mansions like today's Via D’Urso.
