The itinerary begins with the stunning Cattedrale di Trani, a “double church” overlooking the sea in whose crypt are preserved the relics of Saint Nicholas the Pilgrim. Next, the Cattedrale di Ruvo di Puglia is characterised by its truly unique sloping facade and its twelve-sectioned rose window, overlooked by an enigmatic seated sculpture, probably depicting Frederick II. For the third and last stop of this itinerary, visit the Santuario della Madonna di Sovereto, in Terlizzi, built to celebrate the discovery, shortly after the year one thousand, of a sacred icon depicting the Virgin and Child.
