Not to be missed:

The stretch of coast between Peschici and Vieste is one of the most picturesque of the Mediterranean. For more than a century, these authentic wooden giants have clung to the rock behind the Aleppo pine groves,  fruit of the ingenuity of the fishermen of Vieste and Peschici of yesteryear, committed to making fishing safe from inclement weather and adverse sea conditions. According to some local historians, they date back to the time of the Phoenicians.

Useful informations

Residue of the primordial and age-old woods of the promontory of the Gargano, the  Umbra Forest is the most representative environment of the inlands of the Gargano. The Forest features nearly pristine majesty and strikingly lush vegetation with a rich variety of species and forms of trees and bushes. For some, the name Umbra derives from the ancient population of Umbri (a prehistoric tribe of Celtic origins), who inhabited the forest and would descend to raid and loot the settlements and fertile lands of the promontory, much to the dismay of nomadic shepherds; for others the name refers to the dense shade the forest offers.
