The naturalistic itinerary offers an overview of the flora of the Regional Park of “Porto Selvaggio – Palude del Capitano” and the annotations for better understanding the landscape: the Mediterranean maquis, recognition and characterisation of the main plant species, ecological aptitudes and stratagems of the flora in its habitat. Porto Selvaggio: origin and general characteristics of the “Regional Natural Park of Porto Selvaggio - Palude del Capitano” , functions of the Watch Towers, ancient defensive strongholds that line the coast, bringing to mind the ancient incursions of Saracen pirates- notions of history - palaeontology, and prehistory. Palude del Capitano, in this interesting area it is possible to find active karstic phenomena in the areas of the lagoon and smaller dolines. The extreme rarity and beauty of the flowers and vegetation label this area:“Sarcopoterium spinosum”, “Shrub Thyme”, “Alyssum leucadeum” are just some examples.
