Città Aperte - or Open Cities - returns again on 2009, promoted by the Region of Puglia Tourism Authority and the Tourism Office of the province  of Taranto to dedicate more time to culture, art, and the nature of the Ionic region. The project was also made possible by the Chamber of Commerce, the Public Transport Consortium, and the Province of Taranto.
Numerous sites are open for this occasion: churches and castles, farms and natural areas that cannot be visited easily by tourists can now be enjoyed with more accessible opening hours. The programme also proposes museums, archaeological sites, Baroque palaces, ravines and places of worship.
