The town of Mattinata has developed around the Gargano National Park, between the hills and the sea. It is a circular shape, almost forming an immense amphitheatre with rich and varied views. Individual features found all over Puglia are gathered in their entirety here along a short stretch of coastline: mountains, hills, plateaus, flatland, beaches and mild and relaxing climates. Mattinata marina is the most convenient location to begin a trip by boat, so much so that many people decide to start their tourist itinerary here when travelling around Gargano. Mattinata beach is extraordinarily beautiful, with multi-coloured, round pebbles. It is 2 km long and 10 metres wide. The coastline arrives to Zagare Bay and is rich and varied, offering tourists a concentrated panoramic view of Puglia’s beauty: rock tables or rock that gently slopes or dramatically drops into the sea and mingling with fields, vineyards, olive groves and pine and oak trees. There are also lots of caves along the coastline that are accessible only by boat. They are famous for their extraordinary combination of colours offered to visitors. The windy Garganic coastline, especially in Mattinata, is an ideal gym for surfing and windsurfing enthusiasts. Seabed lovers should go to the diving centres that organise dives and boat trips.
