The Carovigno coastline is suitable for a variety of tourist requirements: for lovers of comfort, the coastline offers equipped beaches of the finest sand; for tourists in search of quiet and secluded locations, there are lots of small bays or stretches of rock reachable by sea. Sea enthusiasts cannot miss the area around Torre Guaceto between Carovigno and Brindisi, a place in which flourishing nature is appreciated for its beauty. The location has been inhabited since prehistoric times by the Messapii, then the Romans and the Aragons, who build a watch tower here in 1500. The tower is still standing today. There is a nature reserve near the tower in which various activities are organised for families and nature lovers.
Activities:
The activities organised around Torre Guaceto nature reserve are particularly interesting. There are numerous educational tours that teach you to recognise different animal species or plants. There are guided tours and games where children can learn to respect and understand nature. Inside the reserve you can take a sailing course at various levels surrounded by the pure sea overlooking the protected area.
Coast Type:
The morphological type of the 14 kilometre long Carovigno coastline is divided into two sections: the northern part of Torre Santo Sabina is mainly rocky, while to the south up to the nature reserve of Torre Guaceto the coastline is mainly sandy and has a continual stretch of beaches and small bays.
