Van Westerhout Theatre

  • Ph. Teatro Pubblico Pugliese
    null

The Van Westerhout Theatre stands right in the heart of Mola di Bari, with its neoclassical façade facing onto the street of the same name. The theatre featuring a typical Italian layout, was erected in 1888 and dedicated to the renowned musician of local origins Niccolò Van Westerhout. The neoclassical design is to be attributed to Vittorio Chiaia, featuring a horseshoe-shaped stalls area that numbers 106 seats and 26 elegant box seats which frame the refined painted ceiling. Recently restored, the theatre is owned by the municipality of Mola di Bari and is a concert venue for the Associazione Giovanile Musicale conducted by M° Piero Rotolo.
