Barletta's Curci Theatre is a splendid example of 19th-century architecture, standing right in the heart of the historic town centre.
The building was inaugurated in 1819 and named after San Ferdinando. Partially collapsed in 1864, the theatre was rebuilt and opened again to the public in 1872, this time dedicated to the Barletta musician Giuseppe Curci. The new enlarged building also included some common areas, an entrance hall, a bar, a smoker's lounge and a dance hall on the upper floor. Shut down in the early 1990's, the Curci reopened definitively in 1998, and offers every year a rich theatre season.
