A Petruzzelli theatre in miniature enhances the beauty of Lucera's historic centre: the Garibaldi theatre is an art jewel of architecture and decoration housed in the Mozzagrugno Palace.
The building was erected in 1837 at the request of the people and restored in 1907, when it became a highly-elegant smaller copy of the renowned theatre of Bari. The interior is enriched with stuccoes and statues, featuring a vault frescoed with a subtle polychromy of Neoclassical style which depicts muses.
The theatre also features two vestibules, a stalls area, two tiers of bleachers and a large stage, for a total capacity of 236 seats.
In 2005 a new restoration work has returned the theatre to its citizens, which was inaugurated the following year with the play ''Il piacere dell'onestà'' (The joy of honesty) by Luigi Pirandello, staged by Alessandro Pambieri and Lia Tanzi.
