Walking in the historic centre of Alessano and strolling around the houses “a corte” (typical houses in Salento), stands Palazzo Legari, which overlooks via Alessio Comneno.
The palace was built in 1536 by the merchant Donato Legari from Tricase, as it is indicated by a Latin inscription on the main façade, who wanted a renaissance style palace to be used as meeting place for friends and acquaintances.
The façade has a round arch with an elegant cornice and pilasters with capitals. On the ground floor, four windows with arch, while on the “piano nobile” (main floor) there is a series of windows with architraves. At the top there is a slightly projecting cornice with Lombard bands on corbels.
