Palazzo Ducale in Alessano, an important cultural centre during the Gonzaga domination, is an interesting fortified building with elegant decorations, which give it an elegant appearance.
The palace has been modified several times over the centuries, especially the rooms on the ground floor. It still has its original structure in the central part of the piano nobile (main floor) and in the large staircase next to it.
The view of the fine Renaissance façade is closed by a building in front of the lateral part of the palace, built during the last decade of the 18th century by the feudatory Nicolò Ayerbo d’Aragona, as it is indicated by the inscription on a window: “The house (Ayerbo d’Aragona) doesn’t stand the cruelty, it loves the peace, respects the laws, honours the honest people.
