This biotope is made up of free water expanses and formations that are typical of brackish lagoons. This is a major habitat for great cormorants, little egrets, glossy ibis, spoonbills, Western marsh harriers, black-winged stilts, pied avocets, slender-billed gulls, gull-billed terns, sandwich terns and common kingfishers.
