The Bosco di Cerano (Cerano forest), in the area of the Municipalities of Brindisi and San Pietro Vernotico, keeps the last part of the forest which used to cover most of the coast.
The forest, known also as “Tramazzone”, covers an area of almost one thousand hectares, in the shades of holm oaks, elms and hop hornbeams.
The fauna of Cerano forest is rich with several animals which live in close contact and harmony with the environmental resources.
Badgers, foxes and rodents wander around the forest, while there are almost 60 birds species to admire, such as the Sardinian warbler, the goldfinch, the chaffinch, the blackcap and the nightingale.
