This majestic cylinder-shaped keep tower was built in 1550. The 20 m-wide and 11 m-high construction is in excellent conditions at the centre of the small central square of Salignano. The stairs leading from the base to the summit is undamaged. The keep tower was a fortalice for the Lecce hinterland, lying in a second line defence position to protect the civil populations in case of Ottoman attacks.
