The typical performance of the “tarantate” (women affected by tarantism) during the feast of St. Peter and Paul has practically disappeared. Its role has been taken by a simple feast with lights and a procession.
Event History:
According to history, the two Saints stopped off in Galatina during their journey of evangelisation. Peter is said to have stopped in the parcel known as “Pisanello” in the district of San Vito. For this reason, the inhabitants of Galatina chose him as their patron saint and dedicated to him the main church of the town.
