We start with a visit to the Lama degli Ulivi botanical garden in Monopoli, a tour of history and nature inside a karstic ravine brimming with plant life from all over the world. Inside this garden there are also two rural churches and an underground oil mill. The tour continues with a visit to the ancient town of Monopoli, where you will see the Romanic church of Santa Maria Amalfitana, the Cathedral and its fascinating archaeological site and crypt, and the Carlo V Castle and its open-air artillery museum. In the afternoon you will visit the city of Polignano, with its whitewashed houses on a cliff overlooking the crystalline sea: a craggy slice of coastline dotted by coves and caves, including the Rondinelle and Palazzese caves, which can be visited on foot or by boat. You will then stop by the historic city centre, with a visit to the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, where you will see the beautiful Christmas crib made by Stefano da Putignano, as well as the Pino Pascali Museum of Contemporary Art. Last stop is Mola di Bari, with its important fishing port, the San Nicola cathedral and the Angioino Castle, which was erected by Charles I of Naples. At the end of the tour, you will have a chance to taste the local octopus, which is a traditional local fishing product.
