Torre Guaceto e Squinzano

Riserva di Torre Guaceto

Tour of land and sea in the Torre Guaceto marine protected area, a pristine natural environment to explore through pleasant cycling tours or easy hikes. You will explore the thick and perfumed brush of the Mediterranean maquis and the cane thickets of the wetlands, all the way to the pleasant coves beneath the Saracen tower.
Next stop, Squinzano, where you will visit the Vin'Arte Museum, which hosts farming tools used for wine and oil production, while its other sections include temporary exhibits and a display of local wine labels. You will visit the nearby Santa Maria delle Cerrate complex, an Italian-Greek monastery that dates back to the twelfth century decorated with frescoes depicting traditional Greek scenes; its porch is decorated by capitals, and dates back to the thirteenth century, while its sumptuously decorated yard and well are from the sixteenth century.
Next to the complex is the Museum of Folk Traditions, where some of the traditional environments of a farmer’s house have been reconstructed and contain traditional farming and artisanal implements, as well as sculptures and architectural fragments in Apulian Romanesque style.
