A tour of the Gargano coastline for a scenic view of the rocky cliffs and stacks, and to admire the natural beauty of its forests. The tour starts in Vieste, with the La Salata Oasis, where a paleochristian necropolis from the fourth through sixth centuries A.D. is found, and where the two natural springs have created a beautiful environment. You will then visit the city itself, to see one of its iconic symbols, the white monolith of “Pizzomunno”, and walk through the Medieval streets of its old city centre, its Jewish quarter, Cathedral and Castle. Next stop, Peschici, with a tour of the narrow streets of its historic city centre, which are lined by the workshops of local artisans, souvenir stores, churches, beautiful buildings and a Castle overlooking the sea. This area is also famous for its trabucchi, old fishing machines made from logs stuck into the rock and jutting out over the sea, holding a network of ropes and nets. The tour’s last stop is Vico del Gargano, surrounded by the greenery of the Umbra Forest. This town is famous for its old centre, where you will see the ruins of the Castle and the 12 towered walls, built by Frederick II. You will also visit Trappeto Maratea, a museum dug into the rock that chronicles the history of olive oil production.
