Just a few kilometres from Brindisi is the Torre Guaceto Natural Reserve, a beautiful stretch of coastline where you can observe plants and wildlife: the Posidonia Oceanica prairies, the centuries old trees and rare orchid species. A pleasant stroll through this small slice of paradise is a great way to learn about the Park and how to be environmentally respectful. The afternoon involves a visit to the city of Brindisi: from the port, you will have a beautiful view of the city and its Monumento al Marinaio d'Italia (a naval war memorial). You will then cross the port on a motorboat and visit the historic city centre, with its Roman columns and its Cathedral dedicated to the Visitation and to Saint John the Baptist, where crusaders used to stop for prayer before leaving for the Holy Land. Last stop: the Province’s Archaeological Museum, which hosts, among other things, a section devoted to sub-aquatic archaeology, with relics found at Punta del Serrone, two miles off the port of Brindisi.
