A tour of some authentically Apulian scenery. You start with a visit to the rural village of Lama d’Antico, the churches of San Giovanni and San Lorenzo, which are beautifully frescoed, and caves dug into the rock. The tour continues with Lama degli Ulivi in Monopoli, with a botanical garden that is home to over 2000 different plant species from the world over. Next stop, Monopoli, with its rich seafaring heritage, where you will stroll through the historic city centre and visit the Cathedral of Santa Maria della Madia, the open-air museum of artillery, to see the old defence walls and ancient cannons, and the Shipyard, where you will see the various construction stages of Monopoli’s local ships. The tour continues with Polignano historic city centre, with its picturesque alleyways and terraces overlooking the sea. Just three kilometres away from here is the small town of San Vito, where the abbey guards the remains of Polignano’s Patron Saint.
