The tour starts with a visit to Frederick II’s ancient capital, the city of Foggia, which is right in the centre of the Tavoliere delle Puglie plain. You will stroll through the historic city centre and visit the Cathedral, the Chiesa delle Croci (Church of the Crosses), the famous Epitaph, Fredrick II’s Arch and the Three Arches of Porta Grande, as well as Frederick II’s Well. A visit to the Province’s Museum of Natural History, which contains a wealth of information on the ecosystem of the Capitanata region, is also a must. The tour continues with a visit to the Incoronata Forest, one of the Suevian emperor’s hunting reserves, where the Sanctuary of Madonna Incoronata stands, and which is a pilgrimage destination and final stop on the Lombard Way. The tour ends at the Ordona archaeological area, just a few kilometres away from the town of the same name, where you will visit the ruins of the ancient city of Herdonia, which was an important Roman Municipality.
